ROBBIE GOBER
DWIF Member
Robbie Gober was a member of the Denton Women’s Interracial Fellowship (DWIF). As a resident of southeast Denton’s African American community, she was intimately familiar with the problems of substandard services in that part of town, including muddy unpaved streets and lack of sewers. She worked with the DWIF passing petitions and lobbying Denton’s government for improvements. She noted there were some white women who sincerely desired to improve conditions in southeast Denton and worked hard for it, walking muddy streets in solidarity. Her Christian faith helped her overlook a lot of situations during integration, so she could move from people with negative attitudes on to the next person.
