NORVELL WILLIAMS REED
DWIF Member
Norvell Williams Reed was a Denton Women's Interracial Fellowship (DWIF) member. As a toddler, her family was forcibly relocated in the 1920s along with the rest of Quakertown, Denton's former African American community. Many relocated to Southeast Denton with poor conditions, including unpaved muddy roads and inadequate monetary compensation. She was one of the last surviving Quakertown residents, recorded oral histories recalling related KKK violence, and was a featured guest at Quakertown House events dedicated to commemorating Quakertown history.
