Gail Bowers, Lura Pierce and Lillian Washington (left to right) were members of the Denton Women's Interracial Fellowship (DWIF). The photo in this artwork is from a news article in the Denton Record-Chronicle published December 4, 1975. The article, titled "Fellowship Deals with Relationship," describes Fellowship programs including "Stagflation," "Cleaning up on a Shoestring," "Fix It Up Playshop," "Sharing Craftiness,"  family dinners and a Christmas banquet. The article noted that the DWIF purchased books on African American history and donated them to the library. When the photo was taken, Gail served as DWIF co-chair while Lura and Lillian were executive board members.
